The deep emotive sounds of live performer Tantsui have already graced the rosters of labels like Kindisch, Get Physical and Highway Records. He now makes his debut on the mighty Crosstown Rebels with a beautiful track “Child Of The Fire” and to celebrate this release, we invited him to take the reins of our podcast series.

Thanks for taking the time to record a mix for our podcast series, was there any special concept behind your mix, or tracks played form your own releases?
This podcast is made of tracks from my own releases, most of them are from my new album ‘Unbound’ but also a few well loved classics.

Where did you record the mix, and what equipment did you use?
I recorded this mix in my home studio using only my APC controller. I usually keep things simple in my set up.

What is your thought process when picking out tracks for a podcast, do you pre-select the tracks, or just pick out the first couple and freestyle it from there?
It depends on how I feel at the time, but I never pre-select all of the tracks, I feel every mix works best when it has some improvisation in it.

How do you compare playing in a club to recording a podcast, is there much of a change in your mixing style and track selections?
A podcast allows you to explore tracks that may be too slow or conceptual for the dance floor but with the right audience it is possible in the club too. In terms of mixing I stick to gradual transitions for a recorded mix and play around with quick fader changes and mixing multiple tracks at once in the club.

What stores or other places do you normally look for new music… is it all sourced https://ativanusa.com/ buy ativan online, or do you also pick up the odd bit of vinyl?
I look for music everywhere, you never know where you may find something, but mostly it all goes back to downloading tracks online. I am also slowly building up my vinyl collection and some of my favorite tracks only come on vinyl.

Could you tell us a bit about your most memorable DJ experience?
It was last winter in a small underground club in Moscow. The sound was good, the crowd was very open and truly there for the music.

What other projects do you have lined up, do you have any new releases or forthcoming gigs we should be watching out for?
I am already working on my next album, also I have a big new live coming up with live drums and guitars.
